Make Money Blogging
Before you even think about making money off of your blog, you should spend a few months concentrating on filling it with content and attracting readers. Many potential sources of revenue won’t even look at your blog unless it is 3 months old and active.
There are many ways to make money from your blog, but there is one very important fact to keep in mind – if you lie, you lose readers. In order to make money, you need readers. In order to have readers, you need to be considered a reliable source of information. Promoting a product might get you a decent pay check, but if your review recommends a bad product, you will miss out on potential profits in the long run. You also need to make sure that the products you are advertising are relevant to your readers, or your advertisements won’t be very useful.
Below is a basic list of the ways you can make money from your blog.
1. Affiliate advertising. You can join affiliate programs and put your affiliate links on your blog, and then you will earn commission every time someone follows one of your links and buys something. Because this is dependant on people buying something, it is only good for products that people are likely buy online and wait for delivery. If you are advertising things that they can simply pick up next time they go to the store, they aren’t likely to buy them.
2. Pay per click advertising. This type of advertising often works better than affiliate advertising because you are not waiting for someone to buy a product, you just need them to be interested enough to click on the link. Most pay per click programs offer banners that will show advertisements based on the keywords on the page that is being viewed. Some will just show advertisements at random, and therefore be less successful.
3. Flat rate advertising. This is by far the best option for new bloggers, but it is a lot harder to find. You put a link or a banner on your website and you get paid a flat fee per week or month to keep it there. Especially when you have a new blog, it’s nice to have a guaranteed pay check. However, if you have a lot of traffic your blog might make a lot more money with pay per click advertising.
4. Sponsored posts. These can potentially make you a lot of money, but you have to be careful about which ones you accept. Obviously whoever is paying you to write about their product on your blog wants a good review, but if your good review isn’t honest your readers won’t trust you anymore.
5. An online store. Whether you have products of your own or want to sell other people’s products, there are many sites that will let you set up your own store fairly easily. If you put a link to this store on your blog and mention it in your posts now and then, you can easily sell your products and make more money.
Whatever options you decide to use in order to make money from your blog, make sure you read the terms of use. Some advertising programs won’t let you use any other advertising if you have their links posted on your blog. Some sponsored post programs require you to post a disclaimer. Make sure you know what the rules are in each program you sign up for or you might get yourself banned.
