Why Choose a Niche for Your Adsense Site ?

Google Adsense Niche

If you’ve been trying to make a profit from Adsense ads displayed on your website but are struggling to make it past a few clicks or a few dollars a day then there are several factors that could be causing you problems. The placement of the ads, the size of your ad unit, and even the color of the linking text in your ad could bring down your CTR but there could be bigger factors at play.

Going General

Massive, general topic websites can be a good way to cover a multitude of different topics. They can be great as general news sites or to provide a wide and varied range of information and knowledge. However, they can also prove extremely difficult to manage and even more difficult to monetize especially if you’re trying to do everything yourself. What’s more, it can be difficult to instill a character or a brand in your website content.

Going Niche

Choosing a niche for your website means that when a visitor lands on one page of your site there’s a very good chance they’ll be interested in your other pages too. They’ll be tempted to surf through your content, instinctively building up a sense of trust in your website and more importantly in you.

The Benefit Of Time

The more time a person spends on your website the more likely they are to click the Adsense links to place either because they’re so engrossed in the topic and want more or because they trust you so much that they even believe the hype of the ads displayed on your pages.

The Benefit Of Concentration

Choosing a niche also gives you the chance to concentrate pages on one or two keywords, which can also prove beneficial for Adsense assuming you choose the right keywords.

Google Keywords

Google itself offers a keyword sandbox tool on their website. You can use this to see the average cost per click of keywords and while you won’t necessarily earn this amount you can use it as a gauge of how popular keywords are. You can, at the very least, try to ensure that some relevant ads will be displayed on your pages.

Traffic Generation

When you target a large handful of keywords it becomes much more difficult to have any idea of what the ads served will look like and what group they will cater to. It also means that ads targeted at various keywords will be displayed. One of the things that attracts people to ads they see is that they contain specific keywords that they are interested in. Using a single keyword for your page and using this same keyword when attracting traffic means that you have a greater chance of visitors being interested in the content of the ads, as well as the content of your site.

Reap The Adsense Rewards Of A Niche Website

Unless it’s integral to your website offering, there’s no reason to try and target every possible topic on a single site. Choose a niche, target each of your pages to one or two keywords, and reap the Adsense rewards and the traffic rewards that you’ll receive.

You are right on when it comes to Adsense. To be most effective, you have to really target your audience. I have seen this time and time again. On forums on blog posts and on site flipping sites.

The interesting thing is that I also see people breaking this rule time and time again. So this really is a great reminder.
